The Capitolia Begonia Festival

It was a rare Labor Day weekend for me this year. I didn't have a wedding (first time in 5 years) so I got to be part of the fabulous Begonia Festival in Capitola Village. Yes, on my weekend off I wired hundreds of begonias onto chicken wire along with a huge gang of people. My hands were purple, my back hurt, my arms were scratched up, but it was fun! And the resulting Dragonfly was beautiful.

My husband got up with the sun and helped pick these blossoms from the field in Seaside.

The floats are built by the local Boyscouts. Then each team creates the structure. My kids had a blast playing by the river.

It takes a village!
Am I really doing this on my day off?

The blue staining stayed with me for a few days.

Working on the wings.

a finished leg in red.

The river banks, the train trussel, the bridge, and the beach were mobbed!

I wanted this boat! Don't they look great?

Its Peter Pan and the whole gang!

When pigs fly.

The final product! Isn't she pretty

Robb and I usually head to Capitola Labor Day weekend, but we had to be in Ohio this year. I'm glad you got to enjoy it for us. :-)
